Compass Corner
Summer 2019
Dear Compass Checkers,
Summer is here in full swing, and I hope you will be enjoying time at one of our fantastic United Youth Camps. Personally I look forward to being at our new camp—Woodland, Georgia.
Forget about being “picture perfect”
Have you ever looked at your social media pages and got the impression that everyone else was living a perfect life but you? Reality check—the perfect life does not exist. That concept is only in our heads. I read of a guy who was on the beach in Southern California, but as he took a video of himself he told his audience that he was in the Florida Keys! It doesn’t pay to believe everything on social media.
God tells us in 2 Corinthians 10:12 (New International Version throughout): “We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise.”
Comparison to others is a joy killer! God does not compare us to others—only to ourselves and how we are living up to the standards of His way of life. Psalm 62:12 says, “and that you, O Lord, are loving. Surely You will reward each person according to what he has done.” Be the very best person you can be with the inspiration of God in you, and do not waste time comparing your life to others.
This summer issue of Compass Check is about helping you grow in your relationship with God.
I’d enjoy getting your feedback about Compass Check magazine and suggestions for future articles.
Until next time, your camp friend,
