Glacier Park Fire Update - Wednesday - Aug 22, 2018

Public

Greetings from Helena!

Many have been asking about the fires in Glacier National Park and the impact on our Feast site in Glacier Country. I wanted to share the following information.  (Additional information may be obtained by searching for Glacier National Park fires 2018 on your favorite search engine. Click here for one good link.)

This morning I spoke with Cal Dyck, the director of the Glacier Bible Camp, and he said that today the camp has clear blue skies and no smoke, and that the fires in Glacier National Park are in no way threatening the camp.

The rain the area received on Monday has really helped lower the risk of fire. News sites confirm the rain also helped slow down the fire in the park, but it is still burning.  The approach officials are taking is to "manage" the fire, not put it out. They are trying to protect structures, etc.  Currently Going to the Sun road is closed on the west side of Logan Pass. It is open on the East side of the park up to Logan Pass at the summit.

We are still a month away from the start of the Feast of Tabernacles and are hopeful there will be more rains that will put out the fires.  Please pray for God's will to be done.  The only impact the fires will have is on which areas of the park will be open during the Feast. If certain area of the park are closed on Glacier Day (Thursday, September 27, 2018) we will still have early services so families can explore the many other sites in the Glacier - Flathead Lake area.

Last year we had very bad smoke in the area prior to the Feast, but by Feast time God had provided rains that put many of the fires out and we had beautiful conditions for the Feast. Please pray for God's favor in providing us beautiful weather for the Feast, not only in Glacier Country but at all His designated sites.

We look forward to seeing you soon at the Glacier Country Feast site!
