The United Church of God is pleased to announce a “specialty site” in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii for 2019. To accommodate the requests to have a site on Maui for 2019, the only available meeting space is at hotels which require a minimum number of hotel room nights to use their meeting space for which they also charge a rental fee.

Although a previous email survey mentioned another property, the hosting hotel is the Royal Lahaina Resort.  This resort is a little less expensive than the previously mentioned property when all the daily fees and requirements are totaled.

The Royal Lahaina Resort is located on Kaanapali Beach with 27 acres featuring 3 swimming pools, spa, beach bar, oceanfront restaurant and more.  For a full description go to their website:  https://www.royallahaina.com/

Special Requirements

Registration begins Feb. 4 and is required to attend this site. 

Registration for this site requires the willingness and commitment to stay at the Royal Lahaina Resort (with the exception of Hawaiian members). 

If the hotel contractual obligations are fulfilled and there is additional capacity in the meeting room, additional members can apply, pay the registration fee, and find personal housing.

All attendees will be registered and required to wear name badges at services.  The meeting space capacity is expected to fill up and there will not be room for non-registered visitors.

Registration Fee

Anyone who applies must include a $100 per person registration fee for ages 13 and above at the time of the Feast.

This registration fee pays for the cost of the Feast site (see explanation of “specialty site” below). 

Half the registration fee is refundable and can be returned only if another party can fill your hotel reservation. Unexpected emergencies may result in the loss of monies.  The Church suggests taking out travel insurance for protection. 

Hawaiian Members Only

Hawaiian members are not required to pay the registration fee and not required to stay at the Royal Lahaina Resort but must register to attend.  Hawaiian members will receive automatic approval to attend if registered by May 1.  Please fill out the registration information and go to Option 3.

What is a specialty site and why is there a registration fee for Hawaii?

Specialty sites are sites which are based on member requests and interest level.  There are not enough local members to warrant establishing an annual site.  Anchorage, Alaska has been an example of a specialty site.  Also, Israel, Jordan, Turkey and Greece have been specialty sites.  They are self-funded by the attendees requesting the site and for the most part do not cost the Church to operate it.  Specialty sites can require a deposit and registration fee and approval is required to attend.

The registration fee is to generate additional funding to pay for the meeting space, audio visual charges etc.  Some hotels don’t charge for meeting space, but instead require food and beverage minimums.  In Hawaii it is normal to charge for the meeting space and require food and beverage.
