2015 Feast of Tabernacles Report

Kalutara, Sri Lanka

This year Sri Lanka had the most attendees since the 1980s. There were 100 who attended the Feast this year in Kalutara, Sri Lanka, at the beautiful Tangerine Beach Hotel, where all the brethren stayed and shared meals together. Messages were inspiring and focused. Many talented musicians attended the Feast from Sri Lanka, America and Australia and provided various special music sets.

Many activities were planned for brethren. A cricket game started off the activities at the beginning of the Feast, where many were able to participate in their very first cricket game. Family day consisted of relay games where many got wet and dirty but had a blast anyway. A variety show showcased talent and fun of many from around the world. A family dance was planned where everyone came together to learn new Australian line dances and spend the rest of the time dancing to popular American and Sri Lankan music. On the Sabbath during the Feast was a saree day for all the ladies who attended. Sarees are traditional dresses worn by Sri Lankan women. Sri Lankans and foreigners took part in saree day.

Two exciting excursions were planned. One excursion consisted of sightseeing, a boat ride to a cinnamon plantation, and ended at a baby sea turtle hatchery. The second was for an elephant orphanage, where a few were able to ride an elephant and to see where babies are bottle-fed.

Most would agree that the most exciting aspects of this year’s Feast would be spending time with people and getting to know fellow brethren. There was great conversation in a family orientated atmosphere.

The Sri Lankan brethren love to have guests visit them from around the world. If you want to come visit next year, they will welcome you with open arms for the 2016 Feast of Tabernacles.
