2015 Feast of Tabernacles Report

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

For the fifth time in a row, the Feast of Tabernacles in Mexico was held in sunny Puerto Vallarta at the Hotel Friendly. There was a high attendance of 421 people from Canada, Bolivia, Chile, the Netherlands, the United States and Mexico.

There were many fun excursions, including a Spanish galleon cruise that went around the bay, snorkeling, zip-lining, interacting with dolphins at a water park and visiting the nearby zoo. Thankfully, God blessed us with sunny days, although the weather forecast predicted that it would rain for the entire time of the Feast.

All the brethren stayed at the same hotel with similar rooms, all with air conditioning and an ocean view. The food and drinks were all-inclusive, with meals served around-the-clock in the three restaurants on the premises. This year, the food included a variety of fresh pizza from a large brick oven. All day long you could enjoy the variety of drinks and juices for all ages, around the pool or directly at the bar. This made for wonderful fellowship, and the ladies did not have to cook at all.

We had many activities, including mariachis singing at the beach and later at the lobby, a mechanical bull and bungee jumping, a youth dance, a family dance, a children’s costume party, a ladies speech club luncheon, two shows at the theater (Mexican folkloric dances and a modern circus presentation), plus a soccer and volleyball match. There was also excellent deep-sea fishing only two miles from the beach, where many delicious bluefin tuna were caught and then cooked at the hotel.

The messages were inspiring and varied, reflecting the different cultures of the speakers. Hymns were sung in both Spanish and English. There were three Mexicans baptized.

We thank everyone who helped to carry out this wonderful Feast and thank God for having placed His name in this wonderful place, where we lived with our Church family for eight days with great joy.
