2018 Camp Report
Camp Buckeye
The campers were divided into four boy dorms and four girl dorms. The weather was more comfortable than in many prior years, with the daytime highs in the mid-70s and evening lows in the 60s. Storms came through on Tuesday morning and some of the outdoor classes had to be cut short because of thunder, but the weather turned favorable again for the remainder of camp.
We had all of our usual daily activities of arts and crafts, canoeing, court games, fishing, field games, indoor games, team building and water sports. Archery returned to the schedule again and this year, with all-new equipment.
Our evening Bible skits were very entertaining and we were blessed once again to have Mark Graham come on Monday night to lead an enjoyable and always memorable sing-a-long at the campfire.
The Christian living classes addressed the topics of creation week, choosing the right path, and “God is not a respecter of persons.”
This year, we received a donation from Bass Pro Shops, so every camper was given a brand new fishing rod and reel! Also a church member felt it only appropriate that a starting fisherman would need a tackle box, so they donated funds so each camper also received a free starter tackle box.
We thank our Heavenly Father for His continued protection over the camp, as we had no injuries. Also, we had an amazing group of teens and young adult staffers working alongside the adult staff. Everyone did an amazing job!
We will be returning to Camp Luz next year and the dates will be July 28-31, 2019.
