December 25, 2015 in Guatemala
Guatemala is beautiful! It is green and lush and the landscape is breathtaking. Especially flying in and seeing all the tips of the volcanoes above the clouds. I am pretty sure this is my first time seeing a volcano. The city itself is really unique, from the concrete buildings to the crazy driving.
The only thing more beautiful than this incredible country is the people we have met while here. I think I can speak for everyone when I say we were welcomed like old friends. It was so incredibly encouraging to feel completely at home in a country that should’ve been strange to me. We were taken in and fed and we were allowed to nap on peoples couches. We were welcomed at church with many hugs and kisses and everyone was so warm and inviting. The one thing that was a struggle was the language barrier. Coming from Australia, Spanish isn’t widely taught and so I know pretty much no Spanish. However if you follow the right people around there will be someone to translate for you.
Tomorrow we head off to the orphanage after a picnic with the church brethren. I feel so incredibly blessed to be able to have this amazing experience.
