Farmers to Families Food Box Distribution Continues

This is through a government program that was implemented to help farmers with their supply chain because restaurants and other public food establishments have been closed or greatly restricted by the pandemic. Distribution to needy people goes through churches, businesses and schools—making this a win-win event.

On each box of food distributed, we include a label about Beyond Today and the United Church of God with a QR code that takes you to our website.

On Thursday, Jan. 28, elder John Miller managed a distribution at SUPERB Industries in Sugarcreek, Ohio. It was a joint effort between the Church, SUPERB Industries and Legacy School. UCG was the non-profit of record, SUPERB provided logistics and organization, and Legacy High School of Sugarcreek provided 15 volunteers to load food into cars.

Since they had only one day to let the community know about the food drive, they advertised on Facebook and bought time on WKLM 95.3—the local hometown radio. They distributed 1,300 boxes of food in 2.5 hours. They emphasized on the radio that we would like to get the food into the hands of needy people. SUPERB employees and community members responded and delivered car and truck loads of food to those they personally knew were in need.

This project is an excellent opportunity for local UCG congregations to get engaged in their community and build relationships with people. In Cincinnati, one curious woman attended services the next Sabbath after passing through the home office parking lot to pick up food.
