Fresh Faces at the Home Office
Mitchell Moss was hired as Associate Editor of the United News, and he collaborates closely with Nick Bižić in the publication process. Mr. Moss officially began his new responsibilities on Feb. 25.
His primary responsibility is to choose or assign and then edit articles, news items, announcements and local church updates and all the other miscellaneous graphs, statistics and photos that go into each issue of the United News. All items for publication are proofread and then, if necessary, passed through doctrinal review. Mr. Moss lays all these items out to create a well-designed and neat final product ten times per year.
His other duties include laying out World News and Prophecyin collaboration with that publication’s managing editor, Tom Robinson; collecting, editing and laying out all the articles, Feast site descriptions and other miscellaneous information that goes into the annual Festival Planning Brochure; and designing the annual United Youth Camp magazine.
Raised in rural Berne, Indiana, Mr. Moss grew up in a conservative environment where the Amish ride their buggies on the road as cars whiz by. He went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts Management from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. There, he was trained in the entire printing process—graphic design, file preparation, plate making, press operation, binding and other finishing procedures. He gained further experience working in the printing and publishing industries where he did design work, computer work and project management work under print deadlines with clients both large and small.
In 2009 he made three large leaps simultaneously by moving out of his parents’ house, getting married and attending ABC. His wife, Dana (formerly Zannetti) is an ABC class of 2006 alumnus who works as a freelance photographer.
When asked for his thoughts on his new position, Mr. Moss said, “I’m thrilled that I get to produce a product in my daily work that isn’t just a focus-grouped, heavily marketed, targeted piece of advertising or manufacturing, but is instead a journal where members of the Body of Christ can glean uplifting and educational information. I intend to continue the hard work previous editors have done in making the United Newsa thoughtful and edifying news source for Church members.”

Mr. Bižić was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, and grew up in eastern Ohio, about an hour from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His parents, Chuck and Judy, are both from Ohio, and he has two older sisters, Mandy and Heidi, as well as eight nieces and nephews. He was homeschooled until graduation at 16 in order to begin studying at university. Graduating with an associate’s degree in computer science, he went on to attend ABC in 2006. Mr. Bižić’s official first day on the job was February 25. When asked what he is looking forward to the most in his new position, he replied, “Doing the work of God with His people.” He added, “I’m loving getting to forge a stronger bond with God the Father, Jesus Christ and all who are known by His name. It’s thrilling to know that your work contributes to the ultimate purpose for the universe and sobering to know that any and all personal efforts amount to absolutely nothing without God’s blessing and approval.”
Mr. Moss and Mr. Bižić are working side by side with all the other talented home office staff in producing high-quality material that will inspire our members and proclaim the good news!
