Nashville, Murfreesboro, Church Picnic
The hot day kicked off with games for kids, which included a scavenger hunt and water balloon hot potato game. The park pavilion was close enough to the playground for the kids to run around all day.
The teens and adults began their bracket-style cornhole tournament with about twelve teams. Those who did not wish to play sat on the sidelines to cheer on with excitement. It was an encouraging sight to see members of differing ages pairing up as teams, fostering a true sense of community as they played together.
A wonderful potluck style feast was enjoyed by all, with the fried chicken being provided by local members Jason and Norene Fritts. They also provided industrial-sized fans that helped keep the heat at bay as everyone relaxed together under the pavilion. The rest of the day’s activities included a water balloon toss, Frisbees, football toss and a water balloon fight that was just as much fun for the adults as the children.
While the cornhole tournament wound down to an exciting end, nothing was more delightful than when the ice cream churner was brought out. The homemade ice cream was a sweet capstone to a wonderful day of fellowship and fun. We are already looking forward to next year’s picnic!
