Portland Church Honors the Retirement From the Ministry of Noel and Becky Hornor
After nearly 45 years in the ministry and 40 years of marriage, there was much to celebrate. Following the delicious meal, Bob Dick introduced a PowerPoint slideshow showcasing many highlights of their lives, from their service in California to Minnesota and then Portland. We enjoyed seeing photos of them in their many Feast travels and with their children as they grew into adulthood and had children of their own.
Harvey Werner and Bruce Koester were given the chance to pay heartfelt and humorous tributes to the Hornors, having served with them for many years on the west side of Portland before the congregation combined with Portland East. The Hornors then both expressed their appreciation to their Portland church family after spending the last 25 years in the area.
Mr. Dick presented them with an engraved globe to honor their service, a watch for Mr. Hornor and a new set of cookware for Mrs. Hornor. Finally, cake was cut and desserts enjoyed while the visiting and laughter continued. It was an evening where the church family was able to celebrate two generous, devoted and faithful servants. We are all grateful they will continue to spend their retirement years in the Portland area.
