Senior Brethren Honored at Annual Dinner
Children from the congregation began the evening by presenting a biblical skit based on Psalm 121. The room was colorfully decorated with paper fans, flowers, maracas and themed tableware, in order to honor this year’s “Mexican Fiesta” theme.
Dishes for the meal included Mexican vegetable soup, lemon garlic roasted chicken with rice and a slice of tres leches cake, to finish it off. The beverage of the night was a refreshing cucumber lime agua fresca. Sombreros were worn by local teens, who served the food and drinks to the senior guests. Steve Diggins addressed the guests, speaking to them about some of the benefits of being older, such as having wisdom and skills to solve problems, and how these can benefit the younger members of the congregation. Afterward, some guests commented that “everything was wonderful, the evening was very enjoyable, and they appreciated the service of the younger members of the congregation.”
