United Youth Camps
Camp Hye Sierra
July 01, 2018 - 12:00am EDT to July 08, 2018 - 12:00am EDT
Dorm Life and Spiritual Emphasis
For one week, staff and campers leave daily environments to be immersed together as a large, godly family emphasizing spiritual growth and close relationships. It is an atmosphere of learning about God and drinking in His awesome creation, having fun and making friends!
Christian living classes are provided with thought-provoking discussions about God’s Word as a basis for building a close relationship with God. The Bible is always the emphasis of United Youth Camps.
My only year here, and I love this camp. It has been amazing. Thank you all. (Camper @ Hye Sierra)
Activities
A dance is planned down by the lake in our main pavilion, and dance classes will take place throughout the week. A big Fourth of July picnic with the traditional grilled hamburgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings is planned. The Sabbath services are always special since they are outdoor in natural surroundings, and often deer are nearby.
One of the most unique activities at Hye Sierra is the opportunity to see the giant sequoias at the Sequoia National Forest coupled with rock climbing in the beautiful Kings Canyon area.
We will provide other exciting activities for campers such as speedaway, archery, basketball, capture the flag, bubble balls, volleyball, kayak water polo, orienteering, the challenge course and drama. Also a life skills class will prepare them for the final banquet Saturday evening when the boys escort the girls to dinner and have the opportunity to practice good manners and enjoy good food and conversation with one another. A special more formal Saturday evening dance caps off the camp experience.
Daytime summer temperatures in the Sierras is usually moderate and pleasant, while the evenings and mornings can be chilly and crisp. Camp Hye Sierra will be the special place to be in California in 2018, and it would be a pleasure to have you with us!
