Are you ready to race?

The New England congregations are planning an online social event. Continuing the tradition from last year, there will be a Virtual Pinewood Derby on Sunday, Mar. 5 from 1-4 p.m. EST.

We have held the Pinewood Derby race each winter in New England for the past several years. It is a much-loved activity among our kids and parents. Kids love racing their homemade decorated Pinewood Derby cars down the over 30-foot-long track. We are inviting everyone to participate, no matter where you are located!

Here is how it works

Step 1: Buy this specific Pinewood car kit: Boy Scouts of America Official Pinewood Derby Car Kit. It is available on Amazon using this link: bit.ly/PWDcars, at the Boy Scouts of America website or perhaps a local BSA store. It is very important that you build your car according to the Race Rules, which you can download from this page under "Downloads."

Step 2: Register online by Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023: UCG Virtual Pinewood Derby Registration. Include your car name, car weight and a photo when you register. 

Step 3: Ship your car to the race organizers in New England. You will receive the address to ship your car to after you register. If possible, we ask that a member of your congregation volunteer to coordinate shipping the congregation’s cars in one package to our race organizers. This will cut down on shipping costs considerably. We also ask that you plan for your cars to arrive by Feb. 26, 2023. We will be reminding all registrants of the dates to buy their kits, complete their registrations and ship their cars.  

The Event

The race organizers will webcast the Pinewood Derby event. Watch your car race others from all around the world and prizes will be handed out for fastest, most creative, etc.
