2022 Camp Report
Colorado
At preteen Camp Colorado, 69 campers and staff members greatly enjoyed God’s blessings of gorgeous weather, good health, fresh mountain air and beautiful scenery from June 19-22!
As we focused on the overall United Youth Camps theme for 2022, “Becoming Sons and Daughters of God,” 12 different men and women gave short compass check talks, fireside chats and Christian living sessions.
The children responded well and were attentive and engaged as they considered what this theme meant to them personally.
At the same time, campers wholeheartedly participated in various fun activities such as archery, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boating, multi-ball sports, hiking, arts and crafts and field games.
Evenings were enjoyed by all as we gathered around the campfire for a rousing nightly sing-along, fireside chats, special snacks (like s’mores) and Bible games for all ages.
Some of camp’s greatest benefits are the physical and spiritual bonds that are built between preteens, teens and adults in a relaxed, fun family atmosphere and environment.
Another benefit was developing our teens for greater service in the future. We had 13 teens who served on our counseling and activity staff. They served very well, but also enjoyed some quality time together each evening developing closer relationships with one another.
It has been a real pleasure and honor for me personally to have positively affected the lives of hundreds of people as the director of Camp Colorado for the past 12 years! I am now turning over this responsibility and privilege to the pastor of the Colorado congregations, David Jones, and his wife, Joy, who both served at Camp Colorado this past summer. But I also hope to visit from time to time!
