The Feast of Tabernacles was an exciting event this year in New Zealand, not only because it is a spiritual highlight but also because the brethren could keep the Feast together. New Zealand had been in lockdown, preventing any in-person gatherings last year. The brethren made up for lost time as they enjoyed fellowship and family activities together.

The Feast was held in Paihia, in the beautiful northern region of the North Island of New Zealand. Paihia is a bustling seaside town right in the heart of the Bay of Islands. It is the main tourist town in the Bay of Islands in the Northland Region and is often referred to as the Jewel of the Bay of Islands. Paihia has golden, sandy beaches; safe, clean water for swimming; scenic walks to explore God’s creation and a wide range of water related activities such as fishing, sailing and kayaking around the 144 islands that make up the Bay of Islands. The area is rich in history and culture and is often referred to as the “Birthplace of the Nation.”

The opening night message was a highlight of the Feast this year that got everyone focused and excited about the meaning of the Feast and the future ahead of us. On the Eighth Day a group lunch was enjoyed between services, in addition to the spiritual food provided by God. Feastgoers enjoyed activities together throughout the Feast, such as an afternoon cruise out to “hole in the rock,” lighthouse viewing, dolphin viewing and island exploring. Other group activities such as Bible Jeopardy, game night, family club and afternoon tea were enjoyed. A baptism added to the uplifting experiences of the Feast.

As we celebrated with God on these Feast days, we reflected on God’s plan and His promises. We wrapped up the Feast with everyone looking forward to next year’s Feast of Tabernacles.
