The 2023 Feast of Tabernacles in Nigeria took place at Premier Holiday Resorts, Ìgbàrà-Òkè, Ondo State, in the southwestern part of the country. Members from the Benin, Lagos and Owerri, congregations and outlying areas such as New Bussa, Àkure and Abuja, were in attendance. We had the privilege of having the senior pastor for English-speaking West Africa, Paul Moody, with us, who left for Ghana after the fourth day of the Feast.

Feast attendance this year was 103 at its peak. The Feast theme was “Race to Your Crown,” which resonated in the various sermons, split sermons and sermonettes. Services were streamed live on the UCG Nigeria YouTube channel for viewers unable to attend the Feast.

There was an ordination of a new deacon, Chima Uko, by the laying on of hands on the first day of the Feast.

The Feast witnessed several inspiring activities such as general and youth Bible studies on “the dangers of drunkenness” and “race to your crown” and a complete reading of the book of Deuteronomy. We also held a “prayer and hymns” session, enjoyed several beautiful renditions of music by the festival choir, had a mid-Feast sports day and participated in a talent show night as well as several other family-fun activities. Brethren often came together for bonding through several indoor and outdoor activities throughout the Feast.

The children were also blessed with a replica of their weekly Sabbath school teachings with the help of volunteer teachers from the third to the seventh day of the Feast. They were taught on various age/grade-specific topics from Scripture, based on their age groups to aid their understanding.

As has been the tradition for the past three years, some members generously donated to provide and distribute specially packaged souvenirs containing various items to attendees of all ages.

We celebrated an inspiring Feast with joy and happiness in our temporary shelters away from home, with messages reminding us to remain focused on our race, enduring until the end, to receive the crown of life promised by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
