Ken Japhet Hired as Facilities Manager
The home office has recently hired Ken Japhet as Facilities Manager for United Church of God.
After growing up near Orlando, Florida, Ken spent most of his adult life on the West Coast of the U.S. in California, Oregon and Washington. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force, and since then has worked mostly in equipment manufacturing.
He has designed and built electrical and hydraulic control systems and worked in maintenance, installation and service, equipment rebuilds and sales. He commented, “The years of working with electrical, hydraulic and mechanical equipment provided a lot of the skills I bring to this job.”
Before moving to Ohio, Ken worked as service manager for an equipment distributor, where he ran a crew of up to eight service technicians. A few of his responsibilities as the Facilities Manager at the home office include overseeing all building-related activities including utilities, maintenance, repairs, upkeep, inspections and remodeling.
He will also coordinate service contracts and inspections to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, budgeting and tracking facility expenses, handling landscaping and managing the warehouse. Additionally, Ken will be involved in managing the Church’s interest in buildings that UCG owns throughout the U.S.
Ken commented, “After working in wordly jobs for so long, I find it quite refreshing working for the Church . . . in the few months that I have been employed by UCG I have been very comfortable with what has been required of me and enjoy serving the Church and the work, even in an indirect way.”
The home office staff has enjoyed having Ken join the team and looks forward to working with him.
