Cincinnati Women’s Enrichment Weekend a Big Success

On March 16-18, more than 160 women from 14 states and one international area gathered at the Blue Ash Embassy Suites for the Cincinnati area’s first women’s enrichment weekend. All the activities built on the theme “Understanding You, Understanding Me—Building Meaningful Relationships.”

Most of the ladies, aged teens to 80s, arrived on Friday afternoon to check in and enjoy an evening reception with a chance for food and fellowship. After the reception everyone gathered in the conference room for opening comments by event coordinator LeeAnn Luker, wife of UCG president Dennis Luker. Connie Seelig and Joy Jones then shared memories and highlights of past conferences they had attended.

After a lovely Sabbath brunch, services were conducted by Mr. Luker who spoke on the value of women in God’s plan. Inspirational music throughout the day added to the “Feast-like” atmosphere. The afternoon session helped all the women better understand their own personalities and those of the people around them. Everyone learned to maximize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses.

A delicious banquet was held Saturday evening followed by round table discussions on the different personality types of famous Bible characters.

Sunday morning opened with a very funny yet thoughtful skit clearly showing the different personalities and how they work with each other. This was followed by the keynote speech given by Lisa Fenchel on how God made all kinds of people who can add their own beauty to His Church. After Mrs. Luker wrapped up the weekend, all the ladies joined together to sing the hymn, “One Faith, One Love”. The words of that hymn, “Our many lives are woven, fitly blended as tapestry created by Thy hand,” certainly summed up the entire weekend for all.
