Pastor Bart Bornhorst explains the Christian need for spiritual courage and how it is possible to develop and grow in this trait.

Sermon Notes

Notes:

Would do some help others while some ignore those who are suffering.

Many of us have endured mocking because of our beliefs and have been fired.

Some of us have endured lower grades in schools because of taking time off for Holy Days.  Some have been shunned by family members.

Many have died in the faith while going through persecutions after being martyrs.

We all strive against the pressure of giving up and quitting.  There are many scriptures that talk about enduring and staying the Faith.

Satan wants to cause division between our spouses and within the church.  All of Satan's evils are to bring us to one outcome -- for us to quit and head away from God and give up.

1.)  Stay courageous

There are many scriptures where God shuns cowardice.

2.)  Live courageously every day.

Many did not live a courageous life, real courage will prepare you for life's greatest battle.

David showed great courage.

God must look at our actions and wonder who we are.

v. 21 --> David and Goliath.

This shows us the difference between a cowardice heart and one of courage.

Courage has to be lives every day of our life and then when we face that Goliath, we will be ready.

3.)  The courage we need, God will provide.

The courage we need to sustain our walk, God will build within us because we have yielded our life to God.

David knew that even though he had the courage that was supplied by God.

v. 36-37

David knew that he was going in to fight the battle, but that he wasn't alone.

We have to have the courage before we can ever have the strength.  Satan wants us to give into our feat, but that is when God comes in to help.

Isa. 35:4

Heb. 4:15

Matt. 26:37-39

Christ knew what was coming to him and Satan was playing to it.

Luke 22:41-43 --> God sent an angel to His son to give encouragement.    Jesus Christ was testing in all points as we are.

We are no less important in His eyes than Jesus Christ is.  God's promise is to strengthen our heart.

Psalms 31:24 --> Be of good courage.

2. Tim. 1:8

Do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord.  Don't be ashamed of getting poor grades or the other battles we have to face.

Gal. 6:9 --> Let us not grow weary of doing good.

We are in a spiritual warfare and the foundation of our warfare is courage.

Maintain our courage.
