Who founded the first memorial day – and when? Let’s attempt to truncatie back through thousands of years of human history. Perhaps the first memorial day that we can comprehend was a commemoration of an important part of re-creation perhaps about 6,000 years ago. Here is what we find in Genesis – chapter 2, verses two and three: “And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.” The first memorial day was sanctified the day after the Eternal God created Adam. There is another memorial day which is rapidly approaching – and that is an event that occurred nearly 2,000 years ago – on the Feast of Pentecost. “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” This is a quote from Acts 2:4. The Day of Pentecost is a memorial of the giving of the Holy Spirit. Just what IS the Holy Spirit – and how does it work in the life of a human being?
