Pentecost Weekend in Brown County State Park Indiana

The secluded state park and beautiful surroundings gave the weekend an atmosphere of a mini-Feast of Tabernacles. Visitors from other cities and even other states added to the feel of the weekend. Most of the brethren stayed at the lodge or rustic-style cabins for the entire weekend.

The focus of the weekend was to have a full two days of unending fellowship with each other and praise towards God through inspirational music. On the Sabbath an ensemble of instruments was played with the hymns, and then for dinner everyone enjoyed a carry-in meal at one of the park shelters that evening, rounding out a beautiful Sabbath.

Another inspiring aspect to the musical weekend was the concert for God performance on Saturday evening. Many of the members from the Indianapolis and Terre Haute congregations, as well as visiting members from other congregations, prepared ahead of time with songs, musical pieces and poems to be read. All these were presented as praise to God on the Sabbath and Holy Day. This allowed those in the audience to enjoy the talents of others. After the concert there was a hymn sing accompanied by pianist Victor Kubik, where everyone was welcomed to join in. The evening was very inspiring.

On Pentecost there were two services with more encouraging music that took place during the special music time and the offertory. During the afternoon service, in place of the sermonette there were several selections of inspirational music performed by a number of the brethren. The ensemble also offered accompaniment with the opening and closing hymns for both services.

Everyone had a wonderful time by either participating in or simply enjoying the music of the weekend and the extended opportunity for fellowship.

All are welcome to attend this yearly event if interested. If you think you’d like to attend next year and you’d like to be a part of the concert for God, please let them know ahead of time so you can be added to the list. Feel free to check back next year for more information on Pentecost weekend 2017.
