Everything God gives to us are positive gifts. Likewise, there are many rewards from God that are mentioned throughout the bible. We can earn rewards but not the gifts from God. He wants to give us both gifts and rewards. Rewards are done on positive actions. James mentions such gifts from God (James 1:13-17, see also; Hebrews 11:6-8). It is by our works that God rewards us but certain gifts from God cannot be earned (Revelation 22:12).
