Two fishing trips mentioned in the Scriptures are instructive about fishing. In these two narratives, there are lessons from the best fisherman there ever was, and the way the lessons are taught is an example of the skill with which this fisherman worked. His patience, His focus, His mission, and His ability to teach others to fish just as well as He does is shown. The first fishing story is found in Matthew 4:18—22; Mark 1:16-20; and Luke 5:1-11. Notice the end result that Christ pointed these newly called disciples toward. The second fishing trip is chronicled in John 21:1-22. Notice the similarities in the mission and the end result that the master fisherman desired. This message is for us today, and is real “meat in due season” for us to consider!
