Sermon Notes

A lot of think of job changes we’d like to make.

Why are we performance evaluators to others.

Three Drivers Why we Judge Others

1.) Pride

2 Sam. 15:

Absalom was building himself up because of perceived weakness of King David.  He stole the hearts of the men of Israel.  He would criticize David to marginalize him.  Are we guilty of judging other’s performance?

2 Kings 5:1-10

Naaman’s pride almost cost his healing.  His servants, though, was able to convince him to adjust his attitude.

The story of Naaman.  The King of Israel was confused on what his advisors to do with the interaction with the King of Assyria.

Luke 6:1

The example of Jesus Christ.  The Pharisees and Scribes were looking ot catching Jesus breaking the Sabbath.

2.) Anger

Strong feeling of displeasure and antagonism.

Gen. 4: → Example of Cain who was angered by the positive performance of someone else.

1 Sam. 25:

3.) Personal Uncertainty

Our own uncertainty in ourselves will cause us to see fault in others.  We become more critical of others.  It’s not who you are that holds us back, but who we think we are not.

John 21:15

Matt. 26:

Eph. 6:

Focus on doing our own jobs well.
