How does the example of beautiful Abigail, wife of David, remind us of what foot washing symbolizes? This wise and courageous woman took the blame for her foolish husband’s actions and attempted to spare him from the consequences of his actions. Later, when David’s men came with the future king’s marriage proposal, she humbly presented herself as a servant who would happily wash the feet of David’s servants. She beautifully portrays the humility and selfless love of our Savior, and we can all glean helpful reminders from her example as we prepare for Passover.
