In this study Mr. Smith looks at the betrayal of Christ by Judas. The Bible says jesus carefully chose his disciples, so what caused Judas to turn against Jesus? We don't know the answer for sure except that one year before his death John 6 records that many of Jesus' followers turned away from following him. At that time John 6 also says Jesus knew that Judas would be the one to betray him. There is a lesson for all of us in what happened to Judas. Matthew 24:10 warns us that at the end time the love of many in the church will turn cold and they will betray one another.

Gary Smith was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, but spent most of his youth in the Pasadena, California area. He graduated from Ambassador College in 1976 and he and his wife, Liz, moved to Peoria, Illinois. For the next six years he worked as a nursing home administrator in Illinois, Ohio, and Texas.
In 1982, he and Liz began to serve in the full-time ministry. Since that time, they have served in a number of congregations in the Midwest.
Gary and Liz now pastor in Houston, Texas near their two children and grandson.
