Letter From Dan Preston

May 31, 2024

Greetings all and Happy Sabbath!  Just a reminder we will be having a potluck after services in all three congregations tomorrow.

Challenges

Life is full of challenges, or as my mother would call them, 'sitch-e-ashuns' (situations). Things that come up and are difficult to deal with.  Financial woes, health trials, work stress, etc.  You name it, we all got our sitch-e-ashuns!

Of course, dealing with these challenges builds character.  And, if you were to boil it down to what we as disciples of Christ are to do, it's build character.  Specifically, the perfect character of Christ.

Not an easy task

Handling all our trials with the perfect character of Christ is no easy task.  Human nature tends to want to take the easy way out, and circumvent a Godly response.

What's harder than handling an unwelcome trial?  Challenging yourself! And that's where tomorrow's sermon will come into play...

Get ready to grow

While the challenges that pop up in life provide opportunity to grow, sometimes an even greater opportunity comes from when we challenge ourselves.  If we're not careful, we can wind up becoming confined by old habits that limit our growth.

In tomorrow's message, I plan on offering a few challenges for you.  Some might be easy.  Others hard.  But as followers of Jesus Christ, we all have not only room to grow, but the need to do so. Let's set our sights on growing in grace and knowledge together!
