From the Pastor - Weekly Word 12-11-19
Greetings Everyone!
I hope everyone has had a great week so far. Dianne and I will be in Cape Girardeau and Poplar Bluff this Sabbath and are looking forward to seeing everyone in those congregations.
I was looking at some results of some lab tests that I had a few weeks and was surprised to see I was Vitamin D deficient! I had been feeling really rundown and was getting sick quite bit lately and likely it was because of this. It was amazing but as soon as I took some Vitamin D supplements my attitude and energy were markedly improved.
Sometimes we get spiritually deficient. This may manifest as lack of hope. It may manifest as depression. It may manifest as weariness. It usually results when we begin to live by the flesh and forget to live by the spirit. In other words we need to stir up the spirit of God in our lives so it overwhelms and over shadows our fleshly worries and concerns.
How do we do that?
Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
Hebrews 10:25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
The prescription is to be with other church members! Notice that we need to do this to "stir up" love and good works. These things come from the spirit of God!
So if we're feeling kind of low in our Christian lives then invite someone from church over for dinner. Ask them to an event. Or just have them over to talk. Come to church or a bible study. It doesn't matter how we do it but just be with brethren. We will quickly notice that this is what we were lacking!
Take care and see you soon!
Doug
