Today I want to focus on a specific event in the bible that has great meaning for our Passover preparation. The sacrifice of Jesus Christ was foreshadowed two thousand years in advance by this event in the life of Abraham and his son Isaac. We’ll see that Abraham represented the role of God the Father, and Isaac represented the role that Jesus would fulfill in Jesus’ future sacrifice, death, and resurrection. And just as both Fathers were willing to sacrifice their Sons of Promise, and both sons were willing to be sacrificed, each of us needs to ask ourselves this time of the year, “Am I willing to give myself totally and completely to God, no matter what He asks of me?”

WOW! Thank you for the parallel example of the two Fathers and two sons! It was a sobering and inspiring sermon. Abraham had to be super close to God to have that kind of faith! For an example to them... Prior to Abraham's time, I don't remember if there were any resurrections. That would have even made Abraham's faith tougher. At the beginning of Abraham's journey of faith, he struggled like all the rest of us. He had to learn incrementally too. He was 100 years old by the time that he proved and passed this test! By the end of the Bible, there were at least a dozen that had died and were resurrected, for our example. When my son died, I thanked God that I didn't have the tough test of Abraham; or Job who lost multiple children all at the same time. God gives some silver lining to think about, even during the worst trials of our lives.
