Do you love God's law? Do you love God's law? Or, are you under the law? You're under the law, aren't you? You're keeping those laws. You're under the law. Or, if you keep God's law you're trying to earn salvation. Or, the law's done away, isn't it?

Now I did a couple of searches last night. I want to share with you some comments about the commandments and part of the law of God.

Here's one from Grace Communion International. It's found at GCI.org/law/Sabbath/doneaway. And the headline was "Can God's Sabbath Law Be Done Away?" And they talk about however – after they talk about difference between law and commandments and everything – however, "we're only partially correct in saying that the Ten Commandments, Mosaic Law, are spiritual, moral in nature. The problem is all of its laws do not fit this category. The law of Moses also includes ceremonial as well as spiritual and moral laws. The Sabbath day, even though it is in the Ten Commandments must be counted as a ceremonial law. We can look at the situation in this way. A spiritual, moral law would have no exceptions."

Now who says? Who says that? Does God say that? Or does man say that? Man says that. Because I've got another one from another group that says basically the same thing. It says "the Sabbath is part of the old covenant regulations. It forbids work on one specific day each week. However work is not an evil." Is that the only reason you keep the Sabbath? So you don't have to work? Was the Sabbath given for any more reasons than that? Lot's more reasons. Very good reasons. And, in fact, if you want to know who you are, and who God is, you better keep the Sabbath or you will forget, and then you will become secular. And then you'll worship anything, or nothing.

So it goes on to say, "in contrast, lying is wrong because it's intrinsically a violation of spiritual, moral law. Making a graven image for purposes of worship or being disobedient to parents is always a sin." You know what? I only keep nine of the Ten Commandments. Both of my parents are dead. I can't honor my Dad and Mom anymore. Neither can my wife. I said, "Honey, we only keep nine of the Ten Commandments now." Both of our sets of parents are dead. So we can't keep that law. Well, we can in the spiritual intent. We have a Father in Heaven.

He says, "yet working is not wrong and was only ceremonially banned on the Sabbath and the annual Feast days, and the annual festivals in certain situations. That is when the Old Covenant was in force. Working, per se, is not a sin. It's opposite, laziness, is condemned. Principal when speaking of God's law or commandments" here's where they it bring it down to the skinny of it all, is the following. "No requirements from the old covenant including the Ten Commandments are binding on Christians except the spiritual, moral principles."

Now, let me ask you, who decides what is spiritual and moral? Who decides that?

If you go secular, it's the brainiest people in the world are going to tell you what you should do. And that is never consistent because it changes with the new brain that's added to their group. No absolute truth.

So they can change whatever laws they want. Or rules. And, in fact, they want none. And, in fact, they never want you to worship God.

They go on to say, "none of these are binding on Christians except the spiritual, moral principles which are abundantly repeated in the scripture of the New Covenant, the New Testament. However, keeping the Sabbath by not working is not based on any eternal, spiritual, moral principle. Nor is it mentioned in the New Testament as a Christian requirement. We must conclude that at its heart, Sabbath regulations were ceremonial practices and not necessary for Christians to keep holy."

They have just taught against one of the, quote, least of the commandments of God. And God says they're going to call them least.

Now, here's another one from bible, bible.ca/stencommandments-tencommandments. It says, "Question: Must I keep the Ten Commandments today?"

Now see, I'm talking about do you love God's law. God's law includes the Ten Commandments.

Here's what they say. Therefore, and I just took the last quote of it, same type of reasoning, "therefore, from what we have studied concerning the Ten Commandments, we can see that nine of those ten are still laws that we live by. All except the fourth, Remember the Sabbath Day, have been right from the beginning" --He does not know his Bible, because he‘s not read chapter two of Genesis, nor Exodus 16, before the giving of the Ten Commandments. He does not know his Bible. He does not even understand that one of the comments or one of the descriptors of the Sabbath day is remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy, for in six days God created the heavens and the earth and on the seventh day He rested! All you have to do is read the commandment and you know it came from the beginning--it goes on to say "all except the fourth, remember the Sabbath day, have been right from the beginning and always will be. They have been restated in the New Testament and even given a more extended meaning." So, about the Sabbath, forget about that one.

Do you love God's law? It's evident to me that there are people who don't. It's evident to me that there are many people who don't.

A man after God's own heart and I take it that means God said if I were ever a man that is the attitude that I would have as I lived life. And his name was David.

Psalms 119:97. Here's what he said. Psalms 119:97 Oh, how I love your law. I love your law, it is my meditation all the day.

My question for us: Do you love God's law? Do you love God's law? You know, it's a wonderful law. It was given to us by a God who is described by the term Love. God gave the Ten Commandments out of His love for us. And they teach us to love our God and they teach us to love our fellow man. And they were given by a God of love for us to use in life.

And isn't it interesting the apostle Paul is usually used by many taking out certain scriptures to show the Sabbath is done away, the law is done away, this is done away, and yet that same apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 3:7, I'm not going to read it, just give it to you as a text for you to note, even the ceremonial and civil laws of God, that He gave to Israel, for the running of the nation, for the running of the towns, for the running of the camp, and for the running of the temple, he says, even those laws and the administration of death, were glorious laws. Now, if even the ceremonial laws were glorious, how much more the ten commandments?

Isn't it interesting, that even though it was glorious, what was lacking from the Old Testament to the New was a way to take away sin?

Hebrews 10:3-4. I'm not going to quote either; I'm not going to turn there. But you can write it down. Hebrews 10:3-4, tell us, it's not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could ever take away sin.

So I can keep the law all I want to and it can never take away sin. I can go offer sacrifice after sacrifice and it will never make up for a mistake, an error, a sin, a slip-up, a transgression, an iniquity of yesterday. I can do all the good I want today but it will never make up for what I did yesterday.

The law cannot save you, though the law is wonderful. You cannot be saved by law-keeping. You need a savior, and you need the grace that comes with that savior in order to forgive.

So, what does the law do? The law points out what sin is. So, take a look at just a couple of scriptures.

Romans 3:20. Maybe it's sufficient. Romans 3:20. I don't need to go to 7:7. But Romans 3:20, we read this: Therefore by the deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight. Why? By the law is the knowledge of sin. What does the law do? The law points out, for us, what is right and what is wrong. And when you're doing wrong, it says you're wrong. And when you're doing right, it says good job, way to go. When you're doing wrong it says "ERRRNT, you're wrong. Change".

The law identifies what is right and what is wrong. It tells us what's good and what's bad. It tells us what's righteous and what's evil. The law of God is a beautiful law, done by God Himself. Given by the very hand of God and even all the writing, you know, people say, well Moses gave people reason to divorce. Moses didn't do it. Moses wrote it, God gave it. Read it. Moses didn't sit down and make up the book of the law. God did. God gave them all. God gave ceremonial laws. God gave sacrificial laws. We know Jesus Christ was the final sacrifice and we also know that there is no temple, no Levitical priesthood, to do the sacrificial laws. We don't do those.

But throwing the Ten Commandments out because you don't like them is wrong. God's law was described by the apostle Paul, the same one they use to try and do away with it, as holy, just, and good.

He didn't say, "Now that bad law. Let's keep away from that".

And let's understand. Law could mean the first five books of the Old Testament. Law could mean a specific portion of the law. Or law could mean the rules by which you live. The Ten Commandments are part of the law of God. Part of the law of God. There are other laws that are based on those Ten Commandments. There are statutes that are based on them. There are precepts that are based on them. There are judgments that have been made based on them. There are testimonies about the law that have been used. And the word of God is spoken of. THE word of God also contains the law. So, be sure you understand. The law points out what is sin and what is righteousness.

So, let's be up front. Can the law save us? Absolutely not. It cannot save you. Ephesians 2:8. Let's answer that one right up front before I begin extolling the law of God. Because I want to share with you the law of God is wonderful, and why David could say I love it. 

I'll have a handout for you. Not right yet, but I'll have our ushers give you a handout as we come to that. As I scan through Psalms 119. One hundred and seventy six verses,  all but six talk about law, statute, precept and so on, from the psalmist who wrote that, maybe David, but it didn't say exactly who it was who wrote it.

Ephesians 2:8. For by grace are you saved through faith. It didn't say you are saved through law. By grace are you saved through faith. And that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God. Not of works. You can't work to save yourself. Lest any man should boast. But we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works. So we're created to do good works, but good works don't save you. It takes the grace of God. His willingness to forgive you. His willingness to help you. His willingness to strengthen you.

Look at Romans 5:8-10. Again, the same apostle Paul wrote that one, by the way. Same apostle Paul that they use many times to do away with the law, same apostle Paul wrote this: But God commends His love toward us. Romans 5:8. In that while were yet sinners Christ died for us. Much more than being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.

It's the blood of Jesus Christ that makes us right. If you know what justify means, if you've been an accountant or worked in that you justify something, there's an error I've got to justify this. You justify it. You make it right. Take that error out and you make it right.

The only way you can be made right from a sin of yesterday is to repent and have the sacrifice of Jesus Christ applied for you. Keeping the law today does not make up for your mistake of yesterday. It does show one thing--that you are sorry. And you aren't intentionally going about trying to break God's law. But if you broke it yesterday, and you repent and ask God's forgiveness, you will be keeping it today. Or, you aren't sincere. One or the other.

So he says, in verse 10, for when we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of His son, much more being reconciled we shall be saved by His life. It's His life in us, it's His strength in us, it's God in you that can enable you to live a right life. And that's how you can keep His commandments.

Romans 6:14 says you're not under the law, but under grace. Now how do we mix that? People say "You're under grace, you're not under law." It's always grace, not law. It should be grace and law.

As I went round and round with a person of another religious faith, up in Canada, who was arguing with me that she needed forgiveness and needed a savior but there was no law. And I said "Excuse me, if the law's done away you can't sin. Do you know what sin is?" I took her to the scripture. "Sin is the transgression of the law. If you don't have any law you can't transgress it. There's no stop sign, I can't be given a ticket for driving through a stop sign, right? At any particular intersection. No stop sign. Don't give me a ticket for driving through a stop sign when there's no stop sign." She said, "Huh, I don't get it." "You don't need a savior then. There's no sin. You can't sin. No law." So, "Oh, yes, sir", okay, round and round again, "did you sin?", "Yes, I'm a sinner." "How did you sin? What is sin?" Went through the scripture. 1 John 3:4. There are other scriptures on it. That's a very basic, clear one. Transgressing the law. She couldn't get it.

Romans 6:14. Sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under the law. What does it mean to be under the law? It means you're trying to gain it by the law, and you will slip and stumble and being under the law means you're under the penalty of the law, the weight of the law, the penalty that's going to come, the wages of sin is death, by not living up to it. Which you can't without the spirit of God and without the grace to forgive you. 

So go back to Psalms 19:13 and notice how this is put, about being under something. I like it really well. I think it helps clarify that it does not mean you're not under the obligation to obey the law of God, but it means that if you choose to go the way that I'm going to be saved by law keeping, you will fail. You need Jesus Christ's sacrifice and the grace of God to apply it in your life. Psalms 19:13. It says keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins. Let them not have dominion over me. Under the law. Let not that breaking of the law have dominion over me. Then shall I be upright and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. So Psalms 19:13 clarifies sin having dominion over you is really what it is to be under the law. Doesn't mean within the law. Doesn't mean keeping the law. Doesn't mean upholding the law. It means using the law to try to gain salvation, which you can't do. Because the moment you slip and stumble, you've broken it and that law will break you. 

Interesting. Jesus Christ told the rich, young noble man who came to Him in Matthew 19:17, if you will enter into life, keep the commandments. He was asked, Good Master, what good thing may I do to have eternal life? Jesus Christ said don't call me good. There's only one who's ultimately good and that's God. But if you want to enter into life keep the commandments.

Well, you know, which ones? And He started enumerating the ten. Didn't enumerate all of them. But He did enumerate some of them and they belong to what code? The Ten. The man said, Well, I've kept these from my youth. What do I lack? And he told him, Go sell your things, because you do have an idol. That's your finances. Your riches. Go sell them and follow me. Jesus Christ said, Keep the commandments. Keeping the commandments does not earn salvation. Keeping the commandments keeps you on the path of righteousness.

Notice Psalms 23:1-3. You probably learned this, maybe you didn't. I went to Sunday school very infrequently and not very much in my youth, but, I remember Psalms 23 coming up. And people usually learn Psalms 23. But Psalms 23:1. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not lack or want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me by the still waters, He restores my soul, where does God lead you when you're in His care? He leads you in the paths of righteousness for His sake.

So if I want to be a Christian, where will I be walking? In the paths of righteousness. And what is righteousness? Oh! Do I have a definition of that? Yes! Psalms 119:172. All your commandments are righteousness. You'll get that scripture, by the way, in the handout that I give. All your commandments are righteousness.

Romans 2:13 tells us we need to be a doer of the law and not a hearer, but notice, it's the doers of the law who will be justified not doing of the law justifies you. It's absolutely correct to say doing the law will not justify you. It won't. Doing good today does not make up for the bad I did yesterday. I know some people try that. You know, husbands mess up with their wives so they bring some flowers the next day. They don't say anything, just give flowers. A nice apology, and saying I won't do it again, is much better when it accompanies the flowers. Not just flowers. I did bad yesterday. Flowers! What a sneaky way to try to get out of repenting. Many wives accept it because that's the best thing they can get. The most they'll get out of it.

But I'll tell you, there's nothing wrong with saying I'm sorry, I did wrong, forgive me. I did wrong. Forgive me. God wants to hear the same.

But Romans 2:13. Very clear. The same apostle Paul said, Oh, not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. Because if I want God to make right what I did wrong yesterday, I'd better start doing right today. When I say I'm sorry that I did wrong yesterday, I'd better not be perpetuating the wrong today. Because if I do, then I'm insincere. And God sees right through to my heart. He knows. But if I want Him to, I'd better be doing what's right today. Doing what's right does not justify me. God justifies me through the shed blood of Jesus Christ given me by the grace of God because He is gracious, merciful and He will favor me if I'm in a right attitude.

Acts 5:32. You know it. I don't even have to read it to you. Just tell you. God says He gives His Holy Spirit to those who obey Him. God has to see us in an obedient frame of mind and heart in order for Him to give us the Holy Spirit because that comes with baptism, doesn't it? After baptism. So I say I'm sorry I did this wrong, I'm going to start turning it around. I know I'm not perfect in turning it around but I'm showing you, God, how I feel. I'm showing you I want to go the right way. And God says, those people want to obey Me. After they've repented and been baptized I'll give them My Holy Spirit. He gives His Holy Spirit to those that obey Him. Not to those who forget one of the ten. Not for those who decide, hmm, I'll tell you which one is spiritual and which one is moral. Those who are willing to walk with God.

Again, I did some defining. 1 John 3:4. Sin is the transgression of the law. 1 John 3. Look at 1 John 3:7-9. Because John, one of the last, well the last original apostles, wanted to make sure that God's people stuck with the law of God.

John speaks about truth and he speaks about law very persuasively in the general epistles as well as in the book of John. But notice 1 John 3:7-9. Little children, let no man deceive you. He that does righteousness is righteous. Don't just talk righteousness. Don't just think righteousness. Don't just hear righteousness. Do it. Don't be deceived. He that does righteousness is righteous even as he is righteous. He that commits sin is of the devil, for the devil sins from the beginning for this purpose the son of God was manifested that He might destroy the works of the devil. What are the works of the devil? Leading people to sin, to disobey God, to rebel against God. Verse 9. Whoever is born of God does not commit sin. Other translations put it this way. Does not practice sin. The born of God here is meaning a new person the words stand alone is absolutely true, when you're born of God, a spirit being, family of God, you'll never sin. But he's talking, too, about people who are new. New Christians. A new Christian will not practice sin. He won't practice it. What will you practice? Righteousness. What happens when you slip up and sin? You've got a savior. He will forgive you. If you repent, believe and change.

It's really interesting what the scriptures tell us. Paul put it this way, Romans 3:31, when it comes to grace and law. Romans 3:31, he said, Do we then make void the law through faith because we are just faith believing in Christ? Do we make void the law? Do we throw the law away? Or do we just read it because it's just a nice thing to read? No. He said, God forbid. Yes we establish the law. We are firm. The same apostle Paul that's used many in Ephesians 2, Colossians 2, and so on, to do away with the law. Romans 14. Do away with the law. Those are the pet scriptures they, you can anticipate them at any writings about, by certain protestant groups against the law.

But over in Romans 6:1-2. Notice what he says here in this baptism chapter. Romans 6:1-2. He says, what shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Oh, we're under grace now, you can do what you want.

Jude said do not turn the grace of God into license to do what you want. Lasciviousness, license. Don't turn God's mercy and grace and kindness. Don't trample all over His kindness by doing what you want, throwing the law aside, forgetting. Verse, he said shall we continue in sin that grace may abound, verse 2, God forbid.

So let's read it again, putting in the interpretation, the Biblical definition. Shall we continue to break the law of God that grace may abound? God forbid. No way, Jose. I'm sorry if you're Spanish, don't mean to pick on you. I could say no way, Fritz, if that makes you feel better, the Germans. Or no way, amigo, for Spanish, whatever. But anyway, no way.  That is Spanish. No way. God says His law is there for you and me. It is a law of liberty. It is a beautiful law. It was done by a God of love, a God who loved us so much. It wasn't done one time, let's see what are these people back here doing…and I've been in groups. I've been in, you know, college settings, somebody walk across the diacondra. EHHH, new law comes out, new rule. No walking across the diacondra. Somebody left his M&M's on his desk instead of putting them in the drawer at night. No leaving M&M's on your desk. I mean, we made rules anytime somebody made a mistake, we made a rule for that mistake. Is that what we think the Ten Commandments were? Do we think it was done by a God who didn't know what He was doing? He just had the spur of the moment begin to change things? Or did God know human nature from the day He created it? Did He know what it's potential was? Did He know what it's strengths were and what it's liabilities were? He made them. Did He know how people were? Yes. Maybe we don't always understand how people are, but God knows.

In James 1, He calls the law, he says the law of God is something we should do, but he calls it an amazing word here, and we should love it because it is God's law. It keeps us free.

James 1:22. Be you doers of the word and not hearers only deceiving your own selves. Again he tells us be a doer.

Martin Luther did not like James. He didn't like the book of James. Because James really tells you, Do something with your faith. For if any be a hearer of the word and not a doer is like a man beholding his natural face in a glass. He beholds himself and goes his way and straightway forgets what manner of man he was. You don't look in the mirror. The other day I washed my hair and came into class, I blew dried it at home, before coming in well, it was humid outside, began to frizz up, I didn't know, I came to class thinking I looked like I combed it the first time. And then I went to the bathroom and I washed my hands and I looked, oh no, I grabbed my comb and combed it. I didn't look the second time.

You look in the mirror, do you change? God's law is there for us to look into and change. Verse 25. But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, God's law is called a law of liberty. Whoso looks into that perfect law of liberty and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

Notice chapter 2, verse 8, what he calls that same law, if you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, you will love, he said, you shall love your neighbor as yourself. But if you have respect, verse 9, of persons you commit sin and are convicted of the law's transgressors.

In verse 10 he says, for whoever shall keep the whole law and yet offend in one point, he's guilty of all. You are a lawbreaker. And he also calls it a law of liberty in verse 12.  It is a royal law, and it is a law of liberty. Let me read to you what Barclay, in his commentary on James, says about this on page 60. He said, ‘James calls the law two things. He calls it the perfect law, and there are three reasons why the law is perfect. It's God's law, number one. Made by God who is perfect. Two. It's perfect in that it cannot be bettered. Cannot be bettered. Three. There's another sense in which it, the Christian law is perfect, the Greek word for perfection is teleos, which nearly always describes perfection toward a given end.

Now if a man obeys the law of Christ, he will fulfill the purpose for which God sent him into the world. He will be the person he ought to be and he will make a contribution to the world he ought to be. He will be perfect in the sense by obeying the law of God realize his God-given destiny.

He calls it the law of liberty. Calls it the royal law because it's fit for a king. But he calls it the law of liberty. He says it is a law that in the keeping of it, a man finds true liberty. All great men have agreed that it is only in the obeying of the law of God that a man becomes truly free. And he quotes a couple of philosophers on what they say.

So, the law of God is royal, it's given to us by the King of Kings. It's given to us by a God who is love, and it takes love to fulfill it. It takes the love of God to fulfill it.

Romans, 1 John 5:3. Same apostle John, who loved Jesus Christ, I think John had a read on love that the other apostles didn't quite get. And I believe that's why he was the disciple Jesus Christ loved. I think the two of them had an affinity in that way. 1 John 5:3. For this is the love of God. What is it? That we keep His commandments. Because God wants you to be miserable. Is that what it says? And His commandments are not grievous or burdensome.

Oh, this is a burden to keep this. Oh, this is terrible, we shouldn't keep this. The love of God. This is the love of God that we keep His commandments. And it takes God's love in us for us to be able to do it. It takes God's love in us for us to be able to do it.

It's interesting in Romans 13:10 he brings this out. Romans 13:10. We can begin passing out those handouts. I just gave you some to take home and do what you want with it. They're blue sheets. We have some that are white. One per couple, perhaps, or single individual. It says, "Do you love God's law?", and it talks about the benefits of God's law, and I went down the list and put the benefits of God's law, basically from Psalms 119, and what the law is called, by David, and then what you must do with the law. So I'll share some of that with you in a moment.

But Romans 13:10, here's what he says. The apostle Paul. Love works no ill to his neighbor. Love does not hurt his buddy, his friend, his neighbor, or his enemy. Therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. It takes the love of God in us to be able to live and fulfill the law of God.

Let's take a look and see why David loved the law of God so much. Why did he love the law of God so much? Out of 176 verses in Psalms 119, I mentioned that only six verses do not have some reference to law, statutes, testimonies, precepts, word, only six, and I list them in there for you.

He calls the law of God wisdom. He said the law of God gives wisdom. You want wisdom? I understand more than the ancients because I keep your commandments.

When you are a commandment keeping and an obedient person, you have an edge on wisdom. Because God's law was done by the wisest being that there ever was. God's law is a source of rejoicing. It's called, more times than anything else, delightful.

Maybe God knew people would say, it's a burden, oh, that law. I don't want to keep that law, that old law of God, you don‘t want to keep that. And there's some no law keepers. And people wonder why in the early years of the church, that it was emphasized so much, keep the law, obey the law, keep the law, obey the law. Why did Mr. Armstrong and others, why did we do that so much? Did we ever believe you could be saved by the law? No! Never! But so many were saying the law is of no consequence, done away. You don't have to keep it. The emphasis we placed on it was, yes, brethren, you do. Because if we don't teach you to keep the law, we are teaching you to sin. And when I resigned from our previous organization, I said I was a part of this church for 32 years and I supported, I tried to do all I could to bring encouragement and unity. I cannot stand with a church that teaches people it's OK to sin. I cannot stand with a church that tells people it's OK to sin.

It's a delight. God's law is a delight. It's rejoicing. You read, see all the scriptures there. It's comforting. God's law brings comfort. God's law even induces repentance. David says I ran, I was going my way, and I turned my eyes to your law and I went the other way. It helps you see the difference, where to change. It's a lamp. And there are many more scriptures than this. Some I gave more others I gave one. You'll find more. You ought to read through Psalms 119 if you get a chance. It shows the way, it's a lamp to our feet. It brings understanding. It is righteous. God's law leads you to be right.

It is truth, said the commandments are truth. Now we know the whole word of God is truth but the commandments are truth, too. It is peace, great peace, have they who love your law and nothing will offend them. You want to be offended? Slack off on God's way of life. Slack off on God's law. You'll be much more easily offended. If you love God's law he says no. Some people do something hurtful to you say I'm not going to be offended because I love God's law. I love God's law. You can't turn me away. I love God's law. Because God's law keeps you straight. Keeps you on par with what God asks of you.

It is a law of love. David said, or the psalmist, I love God's law. The commandments which I love. You'll see that many times. It also provides fellowship with others interestingly enough, because, why? Well, John said the same thing. I'm walking down the path and you're walking down the path and you know what, we'll probably meet each other along that path. Not hi and goodbye because they're going the wrong way. Because you're both going the right way. Maybe I'm a faster walker, maybe I'm a slower walker than you, and so you catch up to me and you meet me along the path. We're both going the same path. And it's a path that's not easy to find but it is a path of righteousness. So you can fellowship with others.

God's law is called, by the psalmist, wonderful. Wonderful. Many times. Sweet. How sweet are your laws. Do you look on God's law as sweet? Boy, that's sweet! God's law is sweet. Even sweeter than honey. It's called precious. Like gold. How precious is gold? What, $1800 an ounce, is that what it is now, today? Maybe more. That's pretty precious.

How do you consider the law of God? Is it precious to you? It's called life-giving. Your ways quicken me. They give me life.

Called faithful. All your commandments are faithful. God's law, verse 86. God's law takes faithful people to keep it. And as you walk in it, you increase in faith. Paul called it holy, just and good. Romans 7:12.

James called it a law of liberty. James also called it a royal law. A law that's fit for kings. A law that was made by a king and is fit for kings. Notice the last part on the handout. You must do the law. Psalms 119:176. Don't forget God's law. Don't forget it. Psalms 119:166 says do it. Do it.

So you can use this for your own personal study. You can add more scriptures to it. You can do what you want with it. You can draw, color, you can turn it over and use it for a doodling pad. Whatever you want to do. But it's for you. It's for you to take. I spent the time going over that so that I could give you some insights as to why God's law is so awesome and so wonderful. Don't forget it.

The last writer of the Old Testament, Malachi, said, remember the law of Moses.  Last book of the Old Testament. He didn't say Eh forget that, good things are coming. He said remember, Malachi 4:4, remember the law of Moses.

See, it takes love to keep God's law. John 15:10. And the law of God is exactly what Jesus Christ did when He was a man and He walked this earth. And someone will pit Christ against God the Father. Jesus brought new commandments. I say, you know what? I keep, I read this too, he said you keep the commandments in the New Testament he's really telling you to keep Christ's commandments. He's Christ came as a smart-aleck young man, wiser than His Father. You know, Dad doesn't really know what he's doing. Let me bring you up to date. You know Jesus Christ said numerous times in His ministry. "All that I have brought you came from my Father. I've told you what my Father did." And Jesus Christ said I have kept my Father's commandments. Did he then say I have kept my father's commandments and now forget about them. I did them for you now keep mine which are much easier.

I tell you, you cannot keep the second half of the Ten Commandments in a right attitude, in a right frame of mind, unless you do the first four. Because the first four of the Ten Commandments tell you how to love God. And the last six tell you how to love your fellow man. And yes, you can be nice to your fellow man, but if you're not nice to God first, the way you do it is not out of your heart and not out of the love of God.

If the first four are not active in your life, the last six, you can try them, you can put them on and you can be nice. Unless you do the first four, you don't love God. Love God. Love your fellow man.

John 15:10. Jesus Christ said, If you keep My commandments, you shall abide in My love even as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.

And tell me something. Who was the voice that they heard giving the commandments in the Old Testament? Who was the one that appeared to Moses because Jesus Christ said you've never seen His face or shape. Who was it? The one that became Jesus Christ.

But who gave all the commandments? Who gave them all? God the Father. And so Jesus Christ said I have kept my Father's commandments. I've kept them.

Should we be doing it? 1 John 2:3-4. And in fact, if somebody claims he knows Jesus Christ and does not keep His commandments, 1 John 2:3-4, my class knows this one. 1 John 2:3-4. Hereby we know that we know Him. How do you know God? If we keep His commandments. Because His commandments were done by God and they're expression of God's love for you and me. He that says I know Him and keeps not His commandments is a liar! I didn't write that. And the truth is not in him. If you claim to know God, you'll be doing His commandments. But it takes God's strength and God's help.

Romans 5:5. We can't do it out of our own strength not of our own love. Romans 5:5. Bringing this to a close in a few minutes. Romans 5:5. And hope makes not ashamed because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit which is given to us. The Holy Spirit is the means by which we can do and put into practice God's way of life. We can't do it by ourselves.

Phillipians 2:13. For it is God which works in you. Both the will. Give you the willpower and the do-power. He gives will and go power to all of us. To will and to do of His good pleasure. And what is His good pleasure? That we walk with Him. That we do His pleasure and keep His commandments.

It affects your prayer. Whatsoever we ask we receive of Him because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. We need God. We need God's strength. We need God's help.

No, it doesn't earn us anything. But when Jesus Christ was asked what is the great commandment of the law, maybe they were trying to figure out which one they wanted to keep. Matthew 22. Which ones they wanted to jettison. Matthew 22:36. Master, what is the great commandment in the law? Which one do you pick? Are we going to keep this one or are we going to get jettison? Jesus said, you shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. That's commandments one to four. This is the first and great commandment, but He didn't stop there. He didn't say that's all you have to do. And the second is like it. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The last six. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Everything in the Bible drives you ultimately to come to the place where you love God and you love your fellow man. Everything in the Bible. It's what it drives you to.

But what helps define those? Ten Commandments. Ten Commandments aren't all the law of God. They're the basis of love. They're the basis of God's love and it takes His strength to be able to do it.

You know what the apostle Paul said, God's law is holy, just and good? But he said, Boy, I've got a struggle here. I keep trying to do right, and sometimes I mess up, sometimes I do good and then I falter, now I don't know what to do. Oh woe is me, how am I ever going to make it?

Romans 7:24. Oh, wretched man that I am. Because he said in verse 22, I delight in the law of God! What I want to do, I want to do the law of God. It's a great law. So did the psalmist delight in it. Romans 7:22. But verse 24 he said, Oh, wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from this body of death? How am I going to make it? How can I walk with God? How can I love His law? How can I keep His law? I thank God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, so then with the mind, I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law, sometimes my flesh wins over my mind, but I want my mind, and God's spirit in your mind, to be the one that wins. And it's only through God that I can do it.

Do you love God's law? In the end, the last book of the Bible, Revelation 22:13-14, it is a matter of life and death. Revelation 22:13-14. Jesus Christ said I am alpha and omega. The beginning and the end, the first and the last. And then it is written, blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right the tree of life, may enter in through the gates into the city.
