As we prepare for renewing our covenant with God at the Passover, Mr. Smith reminds us that one thing we need to do is remember where we are from. He is not talking about our place of birth, but rather our spiritual condition when God began to work with us. In several passages in the Old Testament God tells Israel to remember that they were slaves in Egypt and we were all also slaves, slaves to sins. Christ has set us free from this slavery, so we need to remember from where we came, consider where we are now and strive to continue going forward towards God's kingdom.

Gary Smith

Gary Smith was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, but spent most of his youth in the Pasadena, California area. He graduated from Ambassador College in 1976 and he and his wife, Liz, moved to Peoria, Illinois. For the next six years he worked as a nursing home administrator in Illinois, Ohio, and Texas.
In 1982, he and Liz began to serve in the full-time ministry. Since that time, they have served in a number of congregations in the Midwest.
Gary and Liz now pastor in Houston, Texas near their two children and grandson.
