One of the reasons God gives Israel for keeping the days of unleavened bread is so that they would remember that they were slaves in the land of Egypt. Mr. Smith begins his holy day sermon by asking us how can this symbolism have any meaning to us since none of us have ever been slaves in Egypt. He then goes over many passages in the New Testament where terms like slavery, bondage and freedom are used showing that we are to learn the spiritual meanings of the symbolism of coming out of bondage pictured by the days of unleavened bread.

Gary Smith

Gary Smith was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, but spent most of his youth in the Pasadena, California area. He graduated from Ambassador College in 1976 and he and his wife, Liz, moved to Peoria, Illinois. For the next six years he worked as a nursing home administrator in Illinois, Ohio, and Texas.
In 1982, he and Liz began to serve in the full-time ministry. Since that time, they have served in a number of congregations in the Midwest.
Gary and Liz now pastor in Houston, Texas near their two children and grandson.
