1 Corinthians 2:14-15 A superficial reading of this scripture might lead one to think that God's Spirit gives us understanding of all things of this world. But as David Horvath explains, this scripture deals with understanding the deep things of God, that is, the wisdom, the love and character of God we need to inculcate in our lives. His specific purpose statement is: Spiritual discernment of the deep things of God is the way to peace and unity and the way to Christian maturity and perfection. To the extent we yield to and understand the things of God, we will grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ and not be caught up in following carnal influences on the human level that lead to disunity and conflict.

David is originally from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree from Ambassador College in 1989. After living five years in the Birmingham, Alabama area, he and his family moved to the Nashville area in 1995 where he and his wife Regina, also an Ambassador College graduate, run a custom home design-build business. David enjoys trail bike riding, weight training, and being a spectator at his three daughters’ volleyball games and track and field meets.
