Why is there a Messiah? Why is there an "Anointed One"? Because God promised eternal life, and with, by and through the Messiah, He has made it possible to keep His promise. This sermon considers some of the many prophecies in the Old Testament that there would be a Messiah, and shows the fulfilling of those prophecies in the New Testament. These are the foundational Scriptures and principles upon which the rest of this series will be anchored. Jesus is the Lamb, the woman's Seed, born into the family of Abraham, as a descendant of King David, the Servant who would bear the sins of many, the Savior who would be the first to rise from the dead, the High Priest, and the King who will return in glory. This is why there is a Messiah.
