Marriage was instituted by God, and as such - He is the One who sets the boundaries and the definitions of what marriage is. It is not simply a legal arrangement that provides tax breaks and simplicity of insurance claims... marriage is a covenant made before God, with specific roles, lessons and purposes, in order to parallel the relationship of Christ and His Church.
