When the Bible speaks of God’s “Throne,” the emphasis is on God’s transcendence, dignity, righteous judgement, mercy and eternal sovereign rule. It gives us detailed information about the throne of God as the literal and figurative symbol of His all-consuming glory and infinite sovereignty by painting a vivid portrait of God’s throne through the prophets’ Old Testament visions and John’s end-time revelation.
