We are living in “perilous times”. The Old Testament contains records of many lives of faithful men who experienced “Red Sea” type trials during the perilous times they experienced. Their reactions to those trials serve as examples that can help us navigate through similar trials in our lives. One such faithful man was righteous King Hezekiah of Judah. This message will analyze the following three recorded prayers he offered to God in response to trials he faced: Prayer 1 was given by Hezekiah at a time of national crisis due to the external threat from the enemy nation Assyria against Jerusalem (2 Kings 19:14-19) NOTE: For supplementary info confirming the biblically-described outcome of this prayer see the article “The Bible and Archaeology - The Early Kings of Judah—Miraculous Deliverance” by Mario Seiglie in Nov-Dec 1998 Good News Magazine (https://www.ucg.org/the-good-news/the-bible-and-archaeology-the-early-kings-of-judah-miraculous-deliverance); Prayer 2 given by Hezekiah at a time of personal crisis after being told he had a terminal illness by the prophet Isaiah (2 Kings 20:2-3); and Prayer 3 given by Hezekiah just after being healed of that illness and being extended 15 more years of life (Isaiah 38:16-19). These three prayers serve as examples for us.
