Rewards (in the context of Scripture) are better understood as wages. Those wages are based on individual work. We can work towards earthly wages or heavenly wages. There are three broad categories of work to earn heavenly wages and put money in our heavenly treasury: loving God and privately seeking His face. Loving our neighbor, and privately serving them as we see need. And third, building up God’s character through our daily living. Finally, there’s degrees of results, based on the quality and quantity of the work put in.
