Steve Myers answers a viewer's question about a graphic used on a recent Beyond Today program.

Transcript

[Steve Myers] We received a question about one of our programs that we recently did, "Calling Evil Good."  Now the question came up about the graphic that we used. Here is a little web shot of the graphic that we used for that program "Calling Evil Good." It's a beautiful apple held by a woman's hand with a snake tattoo on it. And so someone was asking the question, are we saying that the fruit in the garden was an apple? No, we're not saying that at all. We have no reason to believe that it was an apple. People have gotten the wrong ideas over the years.

In fact, if you read Genesis 3:2 or throughout that chapter, it just talks about the fruit of the garden. So it doesn't have any indication that it's an apple.

Now, you might say, what's the reason that we used this for then? Well, the point was that it's a beautiful image. The apple is beautiful, it's red, it looks delicious. And yet, do we have a right to determine what's good and what's evil? That's the problem with Adam and Eve. They chose the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. It's a mixture of things. So where do we look for what is truly good? You see, that's part of the lesson in the garden is that we can't determine that ourselves. We must look to God to know what is truly good.

Now, if you've got a question, write us. Check into the website and just type us your question and hopefully we can get to it here on BT Daily.
