In today's climate, past actions, sometimes decades ago, are being brought to light. How does God view our past?

Transcript

[Steve Myers] The recent revelations about politicians' behavior in the past has blasted all over the news and you can't help but think from a Biblical perspective of what it says in Numbers 32:23 where it says, "Your sin will find you out." And when we look back in our past, all of us have situations where we have sinned. We have fallen short. The problem with politics is they have no way to deal with it. So either they deny it, they have to resign or try to overcome all of that negative press. And we can't approach it that way if we claim to be Christians. This can't be like that. We have to go to God in repentance.

And one of the blessings that we have is those past sins do not have to define us. See, that's the politicians' problems. Now those things that have come up from their past are defining who they are today. But when we see what it says in Psalm 25, when we go to God in repentance as His people, we can pray to Him. And in verse 6 of Psalm 25 it says this, "Remember O Lord your tender mercies, your loving kindnesses. For they are from old. Do not remember the sins of my youth nor my transgressions. According to your mercy, remember me."

Isn't that how we all want to be remembered? God says He'll forget our sins when we repent. That those past things do not define us in God's eyes when we truly repent and go to Him. So let's leave our past behind, put it in God's hands, seek forgiveness from Him, and we certainly will be blessed.

That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
