Topics covered this week in our Beyond Today taping highlighted the need to "get it right".
[Darris McNeely] We've had a busy week here in the Beyond Today studio and one of the biggest lessons I think that we learned this week is to rightly divide the word of truth.
[Steve Myers] That's an important concept. Certainly what we say and how we say it, what we leave out. The words we use can become very, very important. And so that question always comes up, what exactly do you mean by what you said?
[Darris McNeely] Well, we were talking this week about the crucifixion of Christ, we were talking about His resurrection, and walking in faith—and as we poured through both Old Testament and New Testament scriptures on these foundational concepts, it was very important that we get everything right because we were expressing some of the most important truths of the Bible.
[Steve Myers] But we don't want to miss...we don't want to miss the mark. We want to be an approved worker. We want to be the genuine article. We want to say the truth of God, God's Word, exactly right.
[Darris McNeely] When you do that, when you handle God's Word, we understand people are watching, people are listening and that's good. So we are going to search the Scriptures daily (Acts 17:11), which is one of the things we talked about earlier this week, but as we do so, we want to get it all lined up just right, get that foundation right and get things squared away according to the scripture there—to rightly divide that word there so that it is as exact as we can possibly make it because we're dealing with eternal truths (2 Timothy 2:15).
[Steve Myers] Yeah, and it's something that we all need to take into account, not just here on Beyond Today, but all of us as we read the Word of God, we want to rightly divide it. We want to know the truth and express the truth, understand the truth because it's not just somebody else's responsibility—it's everyone's responsibility that God's calling.
[Darris McNeely] That's our week. We hope you've had a good one. Have a good weekend and have a good Sabbath. That's Beyond Today Daily for today. Join us next time.
