What does it mean to pray "thy kingdom come"? Can you make an impact on today's culture?
[Steve Myers] "Your Kingdom come, Your will be done on Earth as it is in heaven." We're continuing our series on prayer and the type of prayer that Jesus Christ Himself taught us and the disciples how to pray (Matthew 6:5-13).
[Gary Petty] "Thy Kingdom come." You know, there has to be a vision for our lives that God is taking us some place. And that defines our mission, what we do every day and why we do what we do every day. "Thy Kingdom come" is our vision. It's what we should be as Christians and it should drive and motivate us every day.
[Steve Myers] Yeah, it's interesting because this life isn't supposed to be our focus. This is not what we're focused on. We realize, yes, we do everything by the power of God right now. We've got to look to Him for everything good that happens in our life. But there's something more. This life isn't the end. So when we suffer, when we go through difficulties, we realize Jesus Christ is going to return. He's going to bring the Kingdom of God and it is going to be an awesome Kingdom—not under the powers of this world, not on the governments or kingdoms of man, but the Kingdom of God and that will reset everything in such an awesome way.
[Gary Petty] And when you really understand that "Thy Kingdom come", you realize that Jesus Christ is your King right now. And following Him and having Him in your life and having Him teach you, having Him lead you to the Father as He said He would—those are the central parts of your life. And so when you pray "Thy Kingdom come" it really changes everything in your life.
[Steve Myers] That's why we focus on the Kingdom of God Bible Seminars because it is such a focal point throughout the preaching and the teaching of Jesus Christ. So we focus on the Kingdom. We focus on it on . And if you'll notice as you watch the programs, listen to our videos, they oftentimes will wrap around that whole concept because it is such a vital key to understanding what the gospel is all about.
[Gary Petty] You know, at the end of every Beyond Today program we ask you all to pray Thy Kingdom come.
[Steve Myers] So don't forget that. That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
