Jesus Christ is the real deal. The Passover is an opportunity for us to examine ourselves, so make sure that we too are the "real deal."

Transcript

[Steve Myers] 1 Corinthians 11:28 talks about examining yourselves before the Passover. That dokimazo, make sure you're the real deal, because it goes on and tells us it's not just about looking at yourself. There is also another aspect to this examination, to this testing or proving. In verse 29 it says, "He who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord's body." The Lord's body. So not discerning or examining the Lord's body.

Now, what is the Lord's body? Well, our Lord is Jesus Christ our Savior. We examine Him. We recognize our need for a Savior, that He is perfect, He is righteous, He led a sin-free life so that we could live. And so we recognize the value and the importance of Christ's sacrifice.

And of course we also recognize the Lord's body is also representative of the church. The church is the body of Christ. And so we recognize even our need for the body of Christ, the church of God. God's church is so vital for us that we are a part of that body and we need that body, and we come together and we worship together and we honor God together.

And so in a sense Passover encapsulates those things of examining and making sure that we are the real deal. We have a real deal for a Savior. We have a real deal for the church. And we then must become that real deal, but putting our life in God's hands, and accepting in faith the sacrifice of Christ throughout our life. And so, let's be that real deal and look to our great and awesome Savior.

That's BT Daily. We'll see you next time.
