Last week I taped two programs for Beyond Today. One program  was entitled, "The New Atheism". A number of books have recently been written by atheists who have adopted a more militant, agrressive form of the malady. Christopher Hitchens' "God is Not Great" is probably the more erudite and entertaining of the lot.

Reading his book I found myself agreeing with many of his diatribes against religion, especially the abusive aspects. Many of the atheist's charges are against the erroneous aspects of religion. Where religion does not follow the teachings of the Bible or other holy books there is a justifiable complaint. When people do not follow the teachings of Jesus there is a major disconnect.

The anger and vitriol that comes out of these writers does not make their world view  something you want to embrace. Perhaps the anger seen in these authors is the part of the fruit of a mind that rejects the knowledge of God?

Psalm 14"1 says "The fool says in his heart, there is no God."  This statement is still true.


At Stake in Iraq: Survival of a Way of Life

I have been reading Andrew Roberts' "A History of the English Speaking Peoples". Roberts writes in this article that we are under assualt from an enemy that is relentless and will seize opportunity if weakness is shown. It is a life and death struggle. Will it result in a collapse of our current way of life? I don't know, but it bears our watching.

The Founder's Intent for Religion in America

This USA Today article is a balanced approach to the subject of religion and its role in America. Some want to rewrite the story and say that religion has no role in the public square. The Supreme Court has been the key to this dilemma since since a 1947 ruling that made the phrase "separation of church and state" the law of the land. This phrase, which we all know, does not appear in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights. That may be something you did not know!

This current court may go some way in reversing this anti-religion trend.
