Mideast Nuclear Race
Four Arab states recently announced plans to develop nuclear technology they say will be used for peaceful means, primarily energy supplies. Egypt,
Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Morocco last week made the announcement. A fewmonths ago the United Arab Emirates, Tunisa, Turkey and Yemen indicated they would go ahead with nuclear plans. It could take six to ten years to develop the technology that most believe will be used to develop more than nuclear reactors for energy.
Iran is the catalyst for this rush as no one wants to be held hostage to demands of the Shiite theocracy in Tehran. The idea of all the major players in the Arab world with nuclear weapons is not a pleasant thought.
