I commented in the last post about British Prime Minister Tony Blair's policy that Britain needs to maintain close ties with both America and the EU to secure its future. Now an article in Britain's Daily Express openly discusses the desire of Prince Charles to be coronated in a multi-faith ceremony.

Reportedly, Charles has told officials he wants to be known as the defender of all faiths, not just the Christian faith.  This would turn back more than a thousand years of custom in the manner in which British monarchs have been coronated. Since the 16th century, following the break with Rome under Henry VIII, the Church of England has been in charge of the ceremony.

The repost has drawn sharp reaction from al least one member of parliament.

But his wish drew sharp criticism last night. Conservative MP Philip Davies warned that the Prince was "playing a dangerous game".

He said: "This country is a Christian country. It's our heritage and we should defend it.

"This pandering to other religions does not impress me. I don't think it impresses people of other faiths either. They might respect our religion more if we respected it in the way they respect theirs.

"The Prince is playing a dangerous game. Once you start chipping away at important parts of our heritage like the coronation, what's to stop other parts being done away with?

You would probably see many people embrace this gesture since it is reported that more people attend mosques on Friday in than churches on Sunday in England. Traditional Christian religion is not a strong force in British life as it once was.

Charles is reflecting the modern position of many in the nation he may one day serve as king. But it is a pandering to two distinct systems that are incompatible. He can't have it both ways, history and faith show this very clearly. Couple this with Tony Blair's desire to bridge America and the EU and you have a collision of systems and cultures that will not blend.

Bible prophecy shows a different road for the fortunes of America and Britain. Accommodation with Islam and co-existence with the EU will not be a recipe for blessing.
