"Not failure, but low aim, is crime," wrote James Lowell. Yearning for the moon is what drove men to design a spaceship that would take them there. It is because of that high aim that we can now man space stations and take regular flights into the upper atmosphere. In life, low aim—low ambition—can shackle us to a mediocre existence. A life of constant effort in any given direction is a life of excitement and accomplishment. You may not land on the moon, but you could land on a cloud. Aim high—shoot for the stars—that is the goal God offers when He says humans can become like Him and be His sons (Romans 8:14-16). You can’t aim any higher than that.
