Ask and You Shall Receive
"Before we acquire great power, we must acquire wisdom to use it well," said Ralph Waldo Emerson. When Solomon became king, he was humble and unsure of himself. He didn't ask God for riches and great wealth but for wisdom. "Give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?" (1 Kings 3:9). Solomon knew the magnitude of the job that God had given him and knew he needed help from God. We also need God's help!
"The LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding" (Proverbs 2:6). Ask God daily for wisdom. "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him" (James 1:5).
