We humans put a great deal of effort into having a comfortable and secure dwelling place or home. We control the cold of winter with a good furnace and we mitigate the heat of summer with air-conditioning. It is ever more rare that we live for a very long time in the homes we occupy. If we can turn a profit, we do not hesitate to sell and move on to yet another home. We try to go to a better home with each move.

We are only passing guests here on earth—and yet we take such care to build a strong nest. We will spend eternity in God's Kingdom and that is the nest our main focus in life needs to be on. These earthly homes are built little by little. Our eternal home also needs solid bricks for construction. At the end of the Sermon on the Mount in which Jesus supplied us with building stones, He stated, "Whoever hears theses sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise, man who built his house on the rock" (Matthew 7:24). That spiritual house needs our attention and work.

We focus on God's done-deal Kingdom to come, knowing we are as much passing guests here on earth as were Christ's disciples, but Jesus promised something that didn’t need their attention and work:
John 14:2 "...I go to prepare a place for you."
:3 "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also."
Additionally, Paul told us about an acceptable spiritual house being built:
I Peter 2:5 “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house…acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. "
How made acceptable to God? One must be God’s workmanship (Eph 2:10) with grace!
Eph 1:6 “To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.”
When God begins/starts (John 6:44) to make a lively stone accepted (Eph 1:6), then He will perform: finish/complete (Phil 1:6) it. He will even provide the “to will/to do!”
Phil 2:13 “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
When God, by the power of His Spirit, permits this to happen it will be a done-deal, b/c He does it!
“Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” I Thess 5:24; Dt 29:4
